At the end of the previous session, the party was on the way to the castle when Ambellina suddenly rushed off in another direction into a cave.
The party chased after Ambellina to find a mangled door and heard voices up ahead. They watched Ambellina and Val hurry on through the door, so they continued on. They caught up and found that Ambellina and Val seemed to be chasing a group of people. Upon hearing the group's voices a bit, the group also seemed to be chasing someone, and there was mention of a fairy.
The party got closer and found Ambellina rushing in to stab what appeared to be a bandit of some kind. Then suddenly, a deep voice rumbled through the cavern, saying: "This is not your mission. Return to me." Then a shadowy hand rose up from the ground and grabbed both Val and Ambellina, taking them away. Some of the party recognized this voice as The Morrigan.
The bandits weren't too happy about being stabbed and the party ended up dragged into a fight. With the help of the person the bandits had been chasing, the party beat them all pretty easily. The new person turned out to be Ari, a fairy who had gotten in a bit of trouble with the bandits and was happy for the help.
After the fight while checking bandit pockets, Ari found an interesting note written in Thieves' Cant: "Beast Prince and Mothers. Cash on delivery". Ari next told the party she saw someone of Arius's race being taken further into the cave, so the party decided to hurry after in case it is one of Arius's friends. Deeper in the cave, the party found large stone buildings. Remnants of engravings indicated that the area was very old. Nothing was readable but it was very interesting. They came across a strange metallic device that they tried to investigate but were unsure about. Ari flew up and found an inscription that was still legible but couldn't read the language. The object seemed to be magical. The party decided to leave it for now since Arius's friend was more important.
A bit further on, Arius picked up the trail - a bit of cloth that looked familiar. They all went through some grimy caves with gross brackish water next. Then they came upon an interesting statue of a human-ish figure wearing strange armor, a kilt, and a very realistic longsword. There was an inscription on the sword that said "Guardians of the guardian" in ancient sylvan. The party also spotted several swords in the water nearby that looked similar. Ari spotted something else shiny and couldn't resist going in to get that and check out the swords. It turned out the swords were unusually light, so she brought some up for the party to see. The shiny object she found was a key with a gem in it. It had conjuration magic. The swords were also magical and had transmutation magic. The swords were incredibly sharp (Ari hurt herself and Saoirse kissed her better), but the party found some matching scabbards for those that wanted to take one.
What is this mysterious place? What is the key for? Will the party find Arius's friend? Stay tuned for the next Myths of Gaea to find out!
