Start with our "New GM Foundations" guide in the GM Coaching section. We also recommend watching actual play sessions to see how stories unfold at the table. Our community is welcoming to beginners—feel free to ask questions, share your concerns, and learn from experienced GMs who've been exactly where you are.
For beginners, understand that TTRPGs are collaborative storytelling where you (the Game Master) guide the world, describe situations, and respond to what your players choose to do. There's no single "correct" way to play, and mistakes are part of the learning process. Every experienced GM started exactly where you are.
Not necessarily. While D&D 5e is the most popular system, we provide resources for multiple systems and also offer system-agnostic worldbuilding and storytelling guidance. If you're learning a specific system for the first time, our coaching can help you understand mechanics while focusing on the narrative aspects that make games memorable.
A one-shot is a single session story that concludes in 3-5 hours—great for testing whether your group enjoys playing together. An adventure is a series of related sessions (typically 3-10) with a complete story arc. A campaign is an ongoing series of adventures that span weeks, months, or years, where player choices shape the larger world. We offer resources at all three levels.
Absolutely. While Myths of Gaea is a fully realized campaign setting, we provide a "Starter Adventure" specifically designed for new GMs. It includes complete guidance on running your first sessions, handling unexpected player choices, and gradually introducing the world's divine and political complexity. You don't need prior experience—just willingness to tell a collaborative story.
